Ikeja Electric says customers across its network face reduced electricity supply hours because of a shortfall in the allocation it receives from the national grid. Its notice is dated 5 October; it does not establish a nationwide blackout or a uniform interruption at every address.

City Power reports an unplanned interruption in parts of Braamfontein, Johannesburg, caused by multiple cable faults. Its 6 October update says 2% of power supply had been restored. That figure has no stated denominator and must not be read as a share of customers or the entire city.
