Ceuta power outage: restoration reported after interconnection trip
Electricity restoration has been reported in Ceuta after a 21 October 2026 incident disconnected its interconnection cables and interrupted supply to nearly the entire market. Red Eléctrica says the high-voltage system was completely connected from 10:34 local time. Endesa separately says all affected customers were restored by that time, in a statement reproduced by Ceuta Actualidad.

Red Eléctrica says a 09:39 local incident in Cádiz disconnected the cables to Ceuta, with local generation and supply lost.
The operator reports the high-voltage system fully connected from 10:34; Endesa reports all affected customers restored by then.
The causal chain remains under investigation; no verified customer total is available.
What happened to the Ceuta system
Red Eléctrica says an incident in Cádiz at 09:39 local time disconnected the interconnection cables to Ceuta. It reports a loss of local generation production and electricity supply to nearly the entire market. That description does not supply a customer count, and it cannot be converted into a number of households or people affected.
The operator says Ceuta’s high-voltage system was completely connected from 10:34 local time, or 08:34 UTC. This describes the high-voltage system’s connection status. The customer-restoration account comes from Endesa, whose statement, reproduced by Ceuta Actualidad, says all affected customers were restored by 10:34 after seven medium-voltage lines disconnected.
What the sources tell us, and what they do not
- Location
- Ceuta
- Reported impact
- Supply lost to nearly the entire market, according to Red Eléctrica; customer total unknown
- Reported restoration
- High-voltage system connected from 10:34 local; Endesa says all affected customers already had supply again by that time
- Investigation
- Cádiz incident disconnected interconnection cables; consequences in Ceuta under investigation
Restoration reported; cause still being examined
The two accounts describe different parts of the electricity system. Red Eléctrica’s high-voltage update and Endesa’s customer-supply statement should retain their respective attribution. Ceuta Actualidad relays Endesa’s statement; it does not provide an independent confirmation of that same company account. Supply at individual addresses has not been independently audited for this report.
Red Eléctrica says it is investigating why the Cádiz incident had these consequences in Ceuta. Endesa attributes the interruption to an Algeciras oscillation and protection operations, but the complete causal chain remains unresolved. Earlier operator updates describing 25 of 27 MW or 90% related to a previous recovery stage. Those figures are not percentages of people and should not replace the later report of complete high-voltage connection.
