What happened in Schmellwitz

Stadtwerke Cottbus identified the first fault in the EVC medium-voltage network in Schmellwitz. It said another fault occurred during switching later that evening. The utility gave times for both faults but did not identify what caused either one. Its account also does not say whether the second fault changed which addresses had lost power.

The utility confirmed restoration for every household affected by this incident. The time it gave is the point by which supply was back for those households. Without a street list or an address-by-address timeline, the two ends of the utility’s timeline do not show how long each household was without electricity.

How many households were affected?

Lausitzer Rundschau reported that consumers had filed more than 250 outage reports on Störungsauskunft.de by 19:00 CET. That figure counts reports submitted to the platform. It does not establish the number of households or electricity connections that lost power. Stadtwerke Cottbus did not publish an affected household count in its statement.

An earlier outage in Schmellwitz on 30 October was a separate report. The evidence for 7 November does not establish a common cause or a connection between the incidents. The restoration time here applies to the 7 November outage described by Stadtwerke Cottbus.
