Router & internet backup

Keep the connection alive when the outlet goes dark.

Choose the network that must stay online. We calculate the battery size, show realistic runtime and flag the power path that can quietly break the setup.

Interactive backup plan

How long must your internet survive?

Start with a typical setup, then replace the estimate with a measured wall-plug load when uptime matters.

Long-runtime candidates

Existing stations that clear the target.

These are intentionally larger, multi-purpose options. For a very small target, compare them with a dedicated router UPS before buying.

Estimate: rated battery × 80% ÷ 32W. Real runtime changes with inverter standby use, DC conversion, battery temperature, low-load shutdown and equipment behavior. A UPS transfer claim still needs testing with the exact network hardware.

Choose the right form factor

Three ways to protect the same connection.

The biggest battery is not automatically the best answer. Match the backup type to the equipment, required runtime and connection path.

SMALLEST

Regulated DC mini UPS

Best for one compatible router or modem when its exact voltage, polarity and barrel connector are known.

  • Low conversion loss
  • Usually silent and compact
  • Voltage must match exactly
Best for: a few hours of Wi-Fi
LONGEST RUNTIME

Portable power station

More stored energy for long outages, Starlink, laptops and charging—but often larger than a router alone needs.

  • Long runtime and multiple outputs
  • Useful beyond the network
  • Test transfer time and eco mode
Best for: long or multi-device outages
Before relying on it

Test the chain, not just the battery.

  1. 01

    Unplug the wall

Confirm the modem, ONT, router and every required mesh node remain online through transfer.

  2. 02

    Wait past eco mode

Some stations disable low-watt outputs after a while. Run a test longer than the expected timeout.

  3. 03

    Check the provider

Verify whether the outside network survives a local outage and keep cellular fallback for critical work.

  4. 04

    Label every cable

For DC power, record voltage, current, polarity and connector at both ends—similar plugs are not proof.

Continue the setup

Turn the estimate into a checked system.
