Orlando maintenance outage: City Power reports supply restored
City Power reports that full supply has been restored to the named Johannesburg customers affected by planned maintenance associated with Orlando Switching Station. Its follow-up notice on 10 October covers the same listed areas as the earlier maintenance overrun. The restoration statement applies to that maintenance scope; it does not establish the status of every unrelated interruption in Johannesburg.

City Power reports full supply restored to the named maintenance customers.
The earlier midnight estimate was conditional; the follow-up reports restoration without an exact switching time.
The named scope includes Industria, Mayfair and Riverlea; customer totals remain unknown.
Restoration reported after extended maintenance
The earlier 10 October notice said the work was taking longer than anticipated and that the team required an additional three to four hours. City Power gave a midnight restoration estimate if the work went as planned. This described the remaining work at that stage, rather than a verified total outage duration. The scheduled start and end times are not established in the checked record.
In a later notice published at 22:24 SAST on 10 October, City Power reported full supply restored to the listed customers following planned maintenance. That is the latest operator statement for this maintenance event. The publication time is not an exact switching time. The record still does not establish the total duration or how many connections were affected, and the earlier midnight estimate should be read as historical.

Which areas the notice names
City Power lists Industria, Bosmont, Crown, Amalgam, Vrede Park, Riverlea, Riverlea Extension 2, SABC 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5, Mayfair, Mayfair West, Brixton and Homestead Park. This is the scope named in the notice. It does not establish that every property in each area was without electricity, nor does it provide an affected connection total.
The scope remains limited to the customers named by the operator. Earlier Parkhurst and Pennyville scope differences remain unresolved, so those names are not added here. A later Mayfair/Pageview interruption is being investigated separately; its relationship to the maintenance has not been established. The restoration notice cannot resolve that separate report or demonstrate that every unrelated Johannesburg fault has been repaired.
Assessing backup needs after an interruption
For device planning, the runtime calculator compares electrical loads with battery capacity. The internet backup planner provides context for keeping a router and modem powered, and backup essentials offers a broader checklist. These tools can help assess equipment needs after an interruption. They cannot verify supply at a particular property or establish the operator’s progress on a separate fault.
