The labels matter — here is what they mean
Plain-language definitions for planning portable power and checking solar compatibility. The definitions explain the maths; the exact product manual still sets the limits.
Power and energy
Watts (W) measure the rate of power at one moment; watt-hours (Wh) measure an amount of energy; capacity, continuous output, surge or starting watts, usable energy, system efficiency, idle overhead, duty cycle and peak sun hours all have separate meanings.
Electricity and conversion
AC is alternating current from an inverter; DC is direct current from batteries, solar panels, USB and many 12V devices; LFP or LiFePO₄ is a lithium-ion battery chemistry; UPS and EPS both switch to battery during an outage but transfer times and suitability vary.
Solar terms
Vmp is voltage at maximum power, Voc is open-circuit voltage (which rises as panels get colder), Imp and Isc are current figures, series wiring adds voltage, parallel wiring adds current, MPPT tracks the panel’s operating point, and the input voltage window plus current limit define what a station accepts.
United Kingdom market status
The record above is shared technical content from the international edition, not proof of a United Kingdom retail offer.
